Exploris Grade 8

Dear parents and students,

OH MY GOODNESS — we feel so celebrated. Thank you, thank you, thank you for knowing us so well and showering us with such goodness last week. We all feel very lucky to be teachers (and moms!) right now. Your teacher appreciation words, gifts, food, and flowers were so very thoughtful! Thank you!

CALCULATORS NEEDED- Shannon’s Math 8: This year we have done very little with calculators.  This choice has improved our number sense significantly, but now it is time to dust those old school electronics off and bring them in for EOG’s.  ALL of Shannon’s math students need a simple calculator beginning Tuesday in class (daily). Remember to email attendance@exploris.org in addition to your child’s crew teacher when your child is absent, late, or checking out early. Thank you!

6th grade has created a Donors Choose project to help us organize our classroom library. Please share this link with your families, board members, etc.

HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION

Broughton Cross Country Info Please send and spread word to ALL athletes that will be attending Broughton next school year – that we will once again host a NEW RUNNER & FAMILY meeting to meet and greet, answer questions, and get everyone on track to start the Cross Country season this summer. Please make all athletes aware but especially those athletes that already run and/or participate in Track & Field. Meeting Information: Wednesday May, 16th @ 6:00 PM in the Holliday Gym at Broughton.  Contact Person: Coach Christian (919) 244-6761 or DChristian@wcpss.net

Last fall season we watched our Broughton Boy’s Cross Country team win a conference title, regional title, and place 3rd at the state championships. The Lady Caps XC team placed 2nd at conference, 1st at regionals, and placed 5th at the state championships. The only way we continue to have success – is getting wonderful athletes and families to join us in that mission.

Millbrook High School Marching Band – Millbrook High School Band will be holding its auditions for rising 9th grade students at the beginning of May.  If you have any students who will be attending Millbrook in the fall, either as their base or magnet, and can either play an instrument, read music or wants to be a part of Color Guard (no experience necessary), please share with them the attached letter from our Band director and the band and/or Color Guard flyers.  The Marching Band and Color Guard are a great way for incoming freshman to make lots of new friends before the school year even starts!

Millbrook High School SGA – Are you attending Millbrook High School next year? Wondering the best way to get involved? Think about joining Millbrook’s Student Government in Freshman Class Council! In Class Council, we make real improvements to the school, planning dances, school celebrations and assemblies and volunteering on campus and in the community. Millbrook is a big school, and SGA is a great way to have an instant circle of friends who have common interests and values.

  • Want to learn more? Look for us at the Rising 9th Grade Open House at Millbrook Thursday 5/17 from 6:30-7:30 pm or at CATs Camp just before the start of next school year! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to lkost@wcpss.net.
